Excuse my ignorance,,,, Do I need a spool gun to weld aluminum with my Millermatic 211? I have 75/25 gas will that work or do I need 100% argon? Thanks
You can mig weld aluminum without a spool gun with a Millermatic 211 however it is very difficult and frustrating to do so.Aluminum wire like the Harris 4043 Aluminum MIG Welding Wire - 1# spool is to soft to push thru a 10 ft mig gun smoothly and will bird nest at the drive rolls an if you are lucky it won't break off in the gun liner. A spoolgun is the way to go for aluminum welding. You will need 100% argon to mig weld aluminum
The Harris 4043 Aluminum MIG Welding Wire - 1# spool is available in sizes .030,.035, and 3/64". You can choose the size you need by clicking on the arrow in the diameter pull down box located under the price shown in red
