Can you run aluminum wire through this gun, would you need a different liner and drive rolls?
Hobart advises that you should not run aluminum through the MIG gun provided with this machine. They suggest that you use the Hobart DP-3545 Spoolgun to weld aluminum in order to avoid a "birds nest" of wire inside of your machine. I will provide the link to that item below. http://store.cyberweld.com/hodp35migsp.html

how long will it take to ship to SF? What kind of warranty does it have? THanks, Mary
Hobart Ironman 230 MIG Welder 500536 will usually ship direct from the Miller/ Hobart warehouse in the Los Angeles area and shipping time to SF would only be a couple of days. Unfortunately there are none in this warehouse at this time. Because of this it will extend the shipping time to SF to 7 to 10 days. The Hobart Ironman 230 MIG Welder 500536 has the Hobart 5/3/1 warranty which basically covers the machines transformer for 5 years, the machine itself for 3 years, and minor components l for 1 year.

    Great Welder, Great Price
    April 14, 2016
After welding with smaller welders with numerous failed welds and just ugly beads, I was fed up. The Ironman 230 is at a reasonable price point and is a solid product. I'm a novice welder and the Ironman was helping me lay down beautiful beads with great penetration right from the get-go. No failures, even when I didn't do as well as I could have. Initially, I was hesitant to fork over the money, but I'm very happy that I did. The settings chart has been spot-on so far and the welder is very easy to set up. I also like that the welder can handle 2, 10, & 33 lb. spools. There are a couple of dislikes, which are that the voltage adjustment is stepped and that the trigger is touchy and I found myself depressing it accidentally with gloves on. Cyberweld's service and shipping couldn't be better. The welder was shipped direct for free from Hobart with liftgate service included. What a relief not to have additional costs tacked onto the price. Overall, I'm very happy and will happily purchase another Hobart machine and continue to do business with Cyberweld.

I had a mig 230 for years and it worked good for what I've been working on but I've been doing larger and thicker material lately so I made the move to step up to a larger welder. I purchased an Ironman 230 and now that I've used it I wish I had done it a long time ago. It has plenty of power to do the job. It's rated for up to 1/2 in. thick material and it will do that and more.

    August 24, 2012
I hooked the welder up as directed and started welding. The gun jammed in 5 minutes and would not let the wire pass through it. After numerous attempts to get the wire to feed through the gun, I called Hobart and they are sending out a new gun. Nice looking welder and seems to weld fine, but 5 minutes. I really expected more from Hobart than that. My last Hobart lasted 25 years without a problem, could be a fluke I guess.
ProsLooks nice, easy to operate with a large user's guide on cover, nice heavy duty looking controls, price fairly for it capabilities.
ConsThe gun jamming in 5 minutes is a little hard to take.
