MSW Series spot welders are lightweight, air-cooled units that are portable, easy to operate, and provide a quick and effective means for spot welding mild, galvanized or stainless materials.

    Features:
  • MSW models weld up to 1/8 in (3.2 mm) total material thickness or two pieces of 20 gauge (1.8 mm) galvanized metal.
  • "T" models include a timer panel with a 0 to 5 second weld timer and power on/off switch, and come with a 10ft. (3m) input power cord and 10ft. (3m)interconnecting cord. The timer panel can be mounted on the optional SWP-2 pedestal, or any other convenient location.
  • Hand lever locks tongs firmly on material, ensuring positive, accurate fit-up.
  • Accommodates a wide variety of tongs and tips.
  • Quick and easy adjustment for material thickness.
  • Reversible for left- or right-hand operation.

    Is this a good choice for welding automotive quarter panels. Some areas I have 3 layers of .040 thick sheet metal with weld through primer. Will I be able to get a good weld without a timer? Counting to 3 for example?

    Answer:
    The Miller MSW-41 Spot Welder 900371 is rated up to 1/8" thickness which would put you near the maximum thickness for this unit ..You should be able to have sucess using it with out the timer.. However you may need to do some test or practice pieces to get your weld time dialed in..A drawback in using this machine as you plan is it is heavy and a cumbersome .
