The comfort of the Speedglas™ 9100 welding helmet is the result of extensive research and development processes. We consulted with international experts in ergonomics and anatomy to ensure that we would produce the most comfortable and protective welding helmet ever.

Welders are delighted to see all the filter options: A grinding shade 3. Gas welding shade 5. Micro-plasma welding shade 8. Arc welding shades 9 through 13. Sensitivity settings for normal welding to low-amp inverter TIG welding, and even lowsensitivity setting for when other welders are working nearby. More versatility, greater optimization… and more user satisfaction.

Speedglas™ 9100 Helmet Features

The helmet is made from a lightweight, but durable material that meets the mechanical strength requirements of EN 175 level ”B” and ANSI Z87.1-2003.

Heat reflecting silver front.

Increased coverage for lower neck from heat and welding sparks.

SideWindows: Exclusive, patented shade 5 filters that widen your field of vision. SideWindows enable you to be more aware of nearby moving machinery, tools and other peripheral hazards. Welders can also use removable cover plates for when peripheral vision would be distracting.

Speedglas™ 9100XX Auto Dark Lens Features

Magnification made easy. The new magnifying lens holder, on the inside face of the welding helmet, makes lens installation easier and more adjustable.

Seven user selectable dark shades: shade 5 for gas welding/cutting, shade 8 for microplasma and low amp TIG welding and shade 9 to 13 for most other types of arc welding.

The ‘tack welding comfort mode’ uses an intermediate light state (shade 5). If a follow-up arc is not struck within two seconds, the welding filter switches to the normal light state (shade 3). The comfort mode may help reduce eye fatigue resulting from the eye constantly needing to adjust to differing light levels during tack welding.

The delay function allows the user to set the dark-to-light switching time.

Sensitivity of arc detection can be adjusted to provide reliable switching for a wide range of arc welding processes, amperages and situations. And you now can ‘lock-in’ any shade: the light shade for grinding or other non-welding activities, or one of the dark shades—to have it function as a passive welding filter.

Great Technology

I am a novice and have limited experience with other helmets but this seems like very good technology. The tinting aspect is very fast and it has some nice fade-out features that help you see subject material before it cools without completely turning off the shielding. The fastener are well thought out and fit my head comfortable without becoming loose.

Pros:

- largest viewing area available
- technology is dependable and safe
- tremendous adjustability on fitting straps
- lightweight

Cons:

- could always use more viewing area
- expensive compared to other helmets
- a bit too much flex in the main housing to call it 'solid'

Bottom line...you get what you pay for! This helmet cost double what my previous helmets have gone for but as far as fit, comfort and viewing area, it can't be beat! If you do a lot of welding your head will thank you at the end of the day. Head gear is infinitely adjustable and very stable without having to be cranked down like a brain vise. Excellent purchase, would buy again.

I have had 3m speedglass helmets in the past , so I kinda knew what to expect. But this item really surprised me at the way the new designed head gear works and the comfort of the helmet on my head while welding. The side windows are very nice feature also .

I use this helmet for welding. It makes it much easier to see welds and the product being welded. The side views are nice for longer items so they can be seen.

Wider viewing area - much more comfortable.

I did not think that owning this fancy helmet could make such a difference, but everything about this thing is over-the-top amazing. The headgear is comfortable, the window is HUGE, and the side windows are spacious. It even fogs up less than every other helmet I have tried.

It's like a Lexus for your head. You won't regret spending the money.

Sometimes it's awkward when you own something that is just so much more amazing than what everybody else has. It kind of makes you a show off.

The headgear is very comfortable , the 9100XX has the biggest window it is great the side windows are awsome. I own a 9000X speedglas helment I have used for twelve years. I needed a new helment the cost was a big factor, but it has been well worth it, I would buy another speedglas in a heart beat and recomend any serious welders buy one also GREAT JOB 3M SPEEDGLAS.

3M Speedglas 9100XX

This is my first auto dark helmet and I have only used it with a mig welder. The large window and spot welding function has come in handy the last month or so as I've welded in replacement sheetmetal on my old truck. The 3M Speedglas helmet has met all of my expectations and worked well.

I HAVE WELD IT FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS AND USE MANY TYPES OF HELMETS. THIS 3M SPEEDGLAS 9100XX IS BY FAR THE BEST I HAVE COME ACROSS. I GOT TO SAY, IT WASN'T EASY TO JUSTIFY SPENDING TOP DOLLAR FOR A HELMET, BUT AFTER MONTHS OF REA-SEARCH ON THE NET I DOVE INTO IT. SKEPTICAL AT FIRST WHETHER I HAD WASTED MY HARD EARN CASH, BUT AFTER HRS OF USE I WAS CONVINCE, THIS IS THE BEST WELDING HELMET YOU CAN BUY!
YOU CAN SEE ALL AROUND YOU CLEARLY WITH SIDE WINDOWS, WHICH NO OTHER HELMET OFFERS. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THE HEAD GEAR, IS BY FAR THE BEST, NO OTHER HELMET COMES CLOSE IN THIS DEPARTMENT. COMFORTABLE IS NOT EVEN THE WORD TO DESCRIBE IT, IS LIKE IT MOLDS TO YOUR OWN HEAD PERFECTLY.

I LOVE HOW BIG THE LENS IS AND WITH THE SIDE WINDOWS YOU CAN STILL SEE EVERYTHING GOING ON AROUND YOU. THE TACK MODE IS SO NICE IF YOU HAVE A BUNCH OF TACKING.

Straight out of the box, I wish I would have watched the DvD, it took me close to my 8 hour shift to get the head gear adjusted. Once I got everything set it so comfortable. The viewing area is great specially with the side viewing lenses. The black out pieces is great specially when your welding next to someone on the same part as you are, no big deal, but when i weld by myself the side view lenses is great so nobody is sneaking up on me. Plus when I run real look TIG welds i don't have to stop to grab another piece of filler metal. So far my only complaint is the cover lenses don't last as long as the regular old wide front helmets. Changing the lenses is really easy after I done it for the first few times. The welding beanie that came with the hood is the best I have ever wore hands down. Now on to the bad. My co-workers keeps trying to nab it and use it. LoL. If you need a electronic lens look no farther than Speedglas they are well worth the price specially if you want a a all around helmet that you can weld in for hours and hours a day.
