Is this a good touch for a jeweler who is setting up their bench?
Yes, the Little Torch 23-1014 kit is an excellent starter kit for jewelers. I comes with one #5 tip and gas regulators that screw directly on top of disposable oxygen and propane cylinders. The cylinders are available for purchase at most large home centers. Our most popular Little Torch is the 23-1001D which comes with 5 tips. Regulators are extra, though.

I had researched this product and Cyberweld had the most positive reviews and the best prices. Plus metal smith instructor Leslie Kali Villareal recommended Cyberweld for this product. Don't hesitate to purchase. It is my third torch system. I progressed from butane to Ez torch to Smith Little. Customer Service A+

    Great Little Torch, pun intended
    February 21, 2016
Cyberweld has the best price by far on this Smith Little torch system for disposable tanks, and shipping was free and fast. Got my torch in 3 days. It works as it's supposed to. I've read and watched a few good videos on this torch but it still does take a learning curve as it's quite a lot hotter than a handheld butane. You get only the #5 tip with this and you should not use a multi-orifice tip with this because of the lack of pressure in and inability to adjust pressure in these small tanks-so that is a bit of an error or generalization they overlooked in the "accessories available" section. If you wish to buy more tips, the price here is also the best, but just know that the #3 is difficult to light without an adjustable regulator (I could not get it to stay lit) and the #7 can potentially cause a flashback fire since this can have insufficient pressure and no flashback arrestors. The 4, 5 & 6 tips work great. Not really sure if additional tips are necessary in hindsight as the flame is highly adjustable and the #5 is a nice medium. Using the #4 today I was able to heat rivet a turquoise bead without damaging the stone (no added protection was needed for the stone) with this torch, which was one reason I decided I needed the extra fast heat of a two tank system. For all other needs you could easily go with a Smith Air/Acetylene if you're willing to have a larger tank in your home.
ProsUsed with small safer tanks for a home studio provides ample heat for all my soldering and metalsmithing needs comfortable to hold cost for setup very reasonable fast delivery
ConsWebsite recommendations for other tips was misleading and should be more clear Two tank system is not as simple to use as a one tank

Great introduction to the little torch
    December 19, 2015
This is a great introduction to the Smith Little Torch line. The kit is a lot more inexpensive than the other Little Torch kits, and the disposable propane and oxygen tanks that you need should be easy to find at your local hardware store. The kit arrived really quickly, it was well packaged and the torch was easy to set up. The torch is really easy to use, the flame is small, but it can easily reach the temperatures you need to get a quick and clean solder join.

Found it difficult to get the first flame and when Oxygen slowly opened flame died. After many attempts got it working.. When I get that worked out it will be an excellent tool for my workshop. Some info about whether to let the new joint cool naturally or to cool it with water or oil would also be helpful for someone new to this type of welding/Brazing. eg:- Which keeps the metal at the joint hardest?

After reading several reviews I decided to purchase the Little Torch and Cyberweld had THE best price! I just started enameling and have a confined work space so it fits my needs. I like the smaller disposable tanks as they fit nicely secured to the legs of my small table. The tanks are readily available at a local big box hardware store so am anxious to work more with the torch. My pieces are small so am thinking it will meet my needs!

Great choice for the hobbyist. Quality parts, easy to use, flame adjusts easily, but could benefit from better instructions. I found instructions on a jewelry-making web site. Order and fulfillment very easy with CyberWeld.
ProsQuality parts. Simple to adjust flame. Pre-set regulators important for hobbyist/occasional/light user

    Little Torch
    April 1, 2012
This is the third Little Torch we have bought from Cyberweld for our group. We have always been very satisfied with their service and appreciate the free shipping - will likely buy another one next year. Have not had the opportunity to actually use this one yet but see the regulators are of a new style and trust everything will be just fine. Cyberweld is highly recommended for service and price.
ProsSmall and very precise soldering possible using minimal fuel.
ConsWhen hooked up to small propane and oxygen bottles they are a pain as they tend to wobble and fall over unless secured. We solved this, but there should be a commercial product available for purchase to fix it. We bought from Academy Sports a plastic foot (stand) the propane tank will sit in and be extremely stable and then wrapped a large piece of commercial velcro around both tanks so they cannot fall over.
