can these glove be used for overhead mig welding
No, the Tillman 820BHP welding gloves should not be used for overhead welding. The back hand pad actually extends beyond the width of the welding glove and may act to actually catch overhead spatter and slag. You would be better off using the Tillman 822 glove, if high heat is a concern. http://store.cyberweld.com/tiweglalbahi.html

If a person does a lot of heavy duty wire feed welding... 1/16th Inch 250 I/s 300amp 25 volt stuff, these would work really really well. I really get sick of hot hands and having to switch off hands and shake the glove to cool it down, with these you wont have to do that. I think they would work pretty good for light and medium duty air arc stuff, up to 500amps DCEP. Fit wise, my hands are an x-large, and these fit decently. The backhand pad doesnt really get in the way, and it does take a few mins to get used to them. I was building up some DTH hammer chucks and subs and my hands never got hot running 1/8th inch stoody 2110 at about 170amps. Normally my left glove gets a lil toasty doing that.

    Great high heat glove

I used to keep a box of welding gloves on hand for the big jobs. I'd have to change gloves several times during an operation just to keep my hands cool - let alone the hardening and cracking of the glove. With the heat pads, these bad boys last a long time, even when burning 1/4 inch rod. Just remember, as with any welding glove, they are meant to protect from radiant heat and accidental contact, not continued contact with hot items! With the pad, they are quite a bit stiffer than ordinary welding gloves, so I like to have a variety in the shop. Everything from the supple TIG gloves to these mitts here.
ProsGreat protection from intense, radiant welding heat

Tillman Welding Gloves - Aluminized Back Extreme Heat Gloves are the best welding gloves I have used
    November 13, 2012
As a welding student at Portland Community College Rock Creek Campus. I can tell you i am hard on welding gloves. I went through a pair of standard leather welding gloves every few weeks did not matter what brand.I used them all. With the same problem leather would srink get hard and crack do to the heat and spatter and the lining wears out. These gloves don't srink get hard and crack do to the heat and spatter and the lining dose not wear out nearly as fast as other gloves I'am replacing the gloves before the lining . The gloves have lasted me nearly ten months. At $42.30 they are not cheap but 42.30 every ten months vs 7.50 to 14.00 dallors a pair every two to three weeks it is just more cost effective for me. I'am right handed so i hold electrode holder or gun depending on the process with that hand and use my left hand to brace my right hand while welding. So i take the heat sheild off the right glove and put it on the left glove when the first heat sheild needs replaced. If you can't wear wool these are not for you the lining is a wool blend.
Prosthese gloves are as rugged and dependable
Cons the price is a bit steep

Very good heat protection, surprisingly good dexterity with them. Wool liner provides additional thermal protection.
