Typical Hobart. Luv it!!
I just pulled this out of the box and attached the air inlet nipple and an air cleaner/oil&moisture remover to the air supply, and plugged it in. SUPER EASY set up out of the box. I took a piece of 1/4 inch steel to see what the capabilities are of this machine. Amazing! On 30 amps, it cut through it like butter, turned it up to 40, more of a test on my outlet than the machine, regardless, it worked perfectly. I hate to use the cliche' "hot knife through butter" but it's the best way to describe it. My only other plasma cutter was a Chinese Colossal CUT 50, which boasted "50 AMPS" but even at full throttle, it would not have kept up with this Hobart on 30 Amps. Also, I spent $300+ on the Chinese cutter and didn't even get 2 hours out of it. $150 per hour to use a machine is a terrible investment!!! Looking forward to using this thing on 1/8 a lot but it's good to know that I have the power to EASILY cut stock that's 3,4 times as thick. Was going to get the 30 AMP Hobart but I think the extra $200 was well worth it. It's nice knowing that if you need it, you have it and also, knowing that the machine is working well below duty cycle is nice too.
ProsPlenty of power, easy set up right out of the box, simplicity in general. Dealing with the staff at Cyberweld, they handled my order very well, even though there was an out of stock item that was holding up the order. Would have been nice if the website kept that kind of thing updated, as I needed the equipment right away, regardless, the awesome staff took great care of me. Thanx Amber and everyone else that tended to my order!! you guys are great, hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
ConsOnly con was that an accessory I ordered was out of stock and the web site did not mention this, so I had an insignificant $2.00 part holding up a $1500+ order. I called the people at Cyberweld and they took GREAT care of me, sorted out my order and shipped it promptly. I contacted them by phone and by email, they always responded promptly and courteously.
