Millermatic® 190 MIG Welder with Auto-Set 907613

The Millermatic® 190 MIG welder is a 190 amp portable MIG welder that runs on 240 volt input current and weighs only 35 pounds. It features inverter technology, which means it draws less power, has a superior welding arc and weighs up to 40% less than other MIG welders in its class. The Milermatic 190 is capable of MIG welding mild steel up to 5/16 inch thick. It features Auto-Set, which eliminates the guesswork of setting voltage and wire feed speed for your MIG welding application. Simply select the material thickness and wire diameter while the welder is in the Auto-Set mode, and you are ready to weld. The Auto-Set control automatically sets your welder to the proper parameters. It is available when welding mild steel with solid wire and only works with .024 and .030 solid wires and C25 shielding gas (75% Argon, 25% CO2).

Manual MIG welding control is also available for those welders who wish to fine tune their welding arc. Manual welding mode must also be used when MIG welding aluminum, stainless steel or for flux-cored welding. The parameter door chart lists voltage and wire feed speed settings options.

  • MIG (GMAW)
  • Flux Cored (FCAW) (gas and self-shielded)

  • Light Industrial Applications
  • Light Fabrication
  • Maintenance and Repair
  • Auto Body
  • Farm/Home

  • Auto-Set™ automatically provides the right settings to weld mild steel while infinite voltage control allows the flexibility to manually set your own parameters.

Set the wire diameter, a blue light shows Auto-Set is activated
Dial in the thickness of what you are welding
Start welding with the exact parameters you need!

  • Miller inverter technology combines best-in-class arc characteristics with the portability of a 35-pound machine. The arc is extremely forgiving to variations in arc length and travel speeds
  • Angled cast-aluminum drive system with calibrated tension knob creates consistent feeding and easy setup for up to 15-foot MIG guns.
  • Quick Select™ drive roll makes setup quicker by offering three grooves, two for different size solid wire and a third for flux-cored welding wire.
  • Auto Spoolgun Detect™ automatically detects when a MIG gun or spool gun is connected eliminating the need for a switch.
  • Smooth-Start™ provides a smooth, spatter-free start. It is the best-starting machine in the small MIG machine category.
  • Thermal overload protection shuts down unit and activates the over temperature light if airflow is blocked or duty cycle is exceeded. Automatically resets when unit cools.
  • Uses 4 inch or 8 inch (102 or 203 mm) spools and can be set up to weld with .024 to .030 inch (0.6 to 0.8 mm) solid wire and .030 to .035 inch (0.8 to 0.9 mm) flux-cored wire.

Do I have to use a different liner than the one that comes with it to use .024 solid wire? I see three liner sizes available for this machine. Can a liner be reinstalled after it has been removed from a gun and hose?
    1 Answers
The Millermatic 190 MIG Welder 907613 comes with a standard with a .030 to .035 liner. In most cases you can run .024 wire through this liner. If you are going to run .024 on a regular basis you may what to install a .024 liner. The .024 wire will run smoother with .024 liner and it will help prevent the wire from binding inside the liner. All three liner sizes can be installed in the M-100 gun that comes with the machine. Liners can be removed and reinstalled as needed.

In the description of this welding machine it's said that it can weld up to 5/16" steel plate and I am assuming this means welding with flux cored wire. My question is does this machine weld up to a max thickness of 5/16" on a single weld pass or does this mean it can weld steel this thick doing multiple passes? If this welding machine cannot weld up to 5/16" steel on a single weld pass then what is the max steel thickness that the miller 190 can weld on a single weld pass?
    1 Answers
The Millermatic 190 MIG Welder 907613 can weld up to 5/16" thick using solid wire with a shielding gas or with flux cored wire.. It can weld thicker using multiple passes

    I love it
I am a homeowner and hobbyist welder. I have a few projects coming up for the Miller 190 to include welding Ramps for a gooseneck trailer. I have the initial welds just to set it up. Then grabbed some old saw blades and welded them together. They are about 1/8 thick. I have never used the auto set feature so I dialed it in according to the Miller preferred settings. It welded perfectly. I also attempted to get the machine warm but I could not get the temp light to come on. I welded 4 runs on a high enough setting that it was about to melt through the saw blades at a moderate pace. The runs were over 7" long and heavy. The light never came on. It just laid it down! I would highly recommend this Miller 190. The uses for this machine wouldn't include industrial welding though. If I wanted to do some heavier steel I would recommend the 252. Bang for the buck on lighter steel i.e. 1/4 and below Miller 190.

Nice heavy duty welder but light in weight
It's my first 220V mig welder and I'm certainly impressed with it's ability to weld heavy metals.
ProsEasily set up. Instructions were good.

    Millermatic 190 - I LOVE THIS MACHINE
I love this welder. Smooth, clean, and consistent welds. It is compact and light weight but offers plenty of power. I wish I had pulled the trigger and purchased this last year. I have been asking every one I know for welding projects just to have a reason to us it. Long torch assembly gives you plenty of reach.

    Unbelievable difference
I bought this welder to upgrade from a 110v unit, where I kept running up against the duty cycle. I had been looking at good quality MIGs for awhile and when I saw this 220v autoset unit come out with inverter based technology, I jumped on it...and I'm so glad I did!!! I haven't stopped welding with this machine since I got it. On Saturday, I purposely pushed it HARD...I was welding sides in a trailer, and welded for 2 hours straight with no more than 10 minutes of down time...this welder never missed a beat, and the overtemp light never came on, despite me pushing it hard on purpose. Not only that, but the quality of welds with this machine ate so much better than the unit it replaced.
ProsAutoset works great, lightweight, extremely forgiving, exceptional duty cycle...and a great value through CyberWeld!!
    ConsNone at all

    Easy setup
Set up went fast and the unit welds as I expected it to. The lighter weight of this unit allows me to be mobile if a family member or friend needs something repaired. I've used both the auto-set and manual functions and can see very little, if any, difference in the finished welds. This unit is a replacement for an older 180 with only 5 fixed heat settings. This does a superior weld on auto-set yet it allows me more control in manual mode if I'm welding different thicknesses of metal.
ProsWeight is the primary plus for me.

    This is almost like cheating!
I'm by no means an experienced welder. But this welder almost makes me look like one. It starts very politely and the the weld flows like cream.
ProsSmall Light Fan only comes on as needed Changing wire sizes is a two minute job The arc is very tolerant of changes in stick out
