I purchased this Welder from you in March of 2013 and I've had a problem with the hour meter since the first time I Put gas in it. It doesn't always turn on when I crank the machine. I have to let it run for a minute or two then shut it down and crank it back up again to get it to turn on. sometimes I have to do this multiple times before the Meter will turn on. Can you tell me what is causing this? This meter should turn on immediately every time I crank the machine or turn the knob to run/Idle but it doesn't.

Hello, I would like to know what non critical AC Tig mean? It can weld aluminum without adding on a standalone welder box? I'm looking to add one of the miller engine powered as back up power and would like to be able to TIG weld aluminum. What would be my best choice? Thanks.
1 Answer
The Miller Bobcat 250 EFI Welder 907502 does not have remote control capabilities such as a footpedal or finger tip control. This means that when tig welding with the Bobcat you can only control the weld amperage from the front control panel of the Bobcat. You will not have very good control of the weld puddle when operating in this manner thus Miller believes that this procedure should only be used only were the quality of the weld may not be critical (noncritical) to the operation or function of the completed project. In order to tig weld aluminum with the Bobcat you will also need to add a Miller 042388 Hi Frequency Arc Starter $1036.00. Your best bet is to purchase a stand alone AC/DC tig weld that can run off the auxiliary power of the Bobcat

I'm looking for an all around welder. Something to weld 1/4" aluminum ,1/2" steel, run a plasma cutter, and use as a backup generator for my home. Which one is best for me? Thanks and merry Christmas
1 Answer
The Miller Bobcat 250 EFI Welder 907502 is not the best choice for your applications. The Miller Trailblazer family of engine driven welders would be a better choice.. You can stick, tig , or mig with a Trailblazer with the proper accessories . You can also mig weld aluminum using a spoolgun. The Trailblazers also produce 10,500 watts of continuous auxiliary power which you can run a plasma machine off of and also power your home

Can you tell me what the duty cycle is. I am not understanding what the fuel data consumption vs. specifications for the duty cycle. If i am running 7018 1/8 inch rods what will my duty cycle be? I am looking to purchase this in the next few days. I have researched my options and this one was the best fit for my needs but due to the Duty Cycle issue i am holding back from purchasing this item... So if you could hurry with a quick response that would be great! Thanks
1 Answer
One way of classifying a welder's "size" is by how much amperage it can generate at a given "duty cycle." Duty cycle is the number of minutes out of a 10-minute period a welder can operate. For example, the Dynasty® 350 TIG unit can deliver 300 amps of welding output at a 60 percent duty cycle. It can weld continuously at 300 amps for six minutes, and then must cool down during the remaining four minutes to prevent overheating. The Miller Bobcat 250 EFI Welder 907502 has a 100% duty cycle. This means it can weld all day at the max output (250 amps) without needing to cool down.If you are going to weld with 1/8" 7018 electrode you would generally be running that rod at 110 to 120 amps . Based on the Bobcat fuel consumption chart you would be using approx .8 gallons on fuel / hour

Will this MIG weld aluminum? What will I need?
1 Answer
The Miller Bobcat 250 EFI Welder 907502 can be set up to weld Aluminum.. If you are only going to use it for light gauge aluminum (up to approx. 150amps) you will need the Spoolmate 3035 spool gun(195016) along with the SGA100c control (043857). If you plan on welding heavier aluminum you will need the Spoolmatic 30 A spool gun (200amps 100% duty cycle) part number 130831 plus the WC115a control (137546011).. A Miller Trailblazer is actually a better choice for welding aluminum with an engine drive welder.. With the Trailblazer you will need the 30A spool gun and a WC24 control

what do i need for mig gun to run bobcat 250
1 Answer
The best MIG solution for a Bobcat 250 is to pair it up with either a Miller Suitcase X-treme 8VS or 12 VS feedder. These feeders hook up to your Bobcat using standard welding cable and come with MIG guns. You would have to add a gas hose and regulator if you are using gas-shielded MIG or Flux-cored welding wire.
