What are the main differences between the 200 and the 215?
    1 Answers
The main differences between the Multimatic 200 and Multimatic 215 are as follows: The Multimatic 200 is designed to be "portable" with a heavy duty case and shoulder strap. This machine will also provide better TIG control and lower amperage capability for thinner TIG welding. It also comes with a Bernard Q-150 MIG gun and original Miller foot contol. The Multimatic 215 is more of your standard shop welder, not built to be safely traveled with like the Multimatic 200. Although, it is portable at only 38 lbs. You will also have better MIG control. The Multimatic 215 comes with an M-100 MIG gun and the newer Miller foot control which is a bit smaller than the original. Neither the Multimatic 200 or Multimatic 215 have the ability to TIG weld aluminum but both can MIG aluminum with the use of a Spoolgun.

You cannot substitute a 15 ft mig gun for the 10 ft Q-150 mig gun that comes with the Miller Multimatic 200 Auto-Set Elite Welder 907518 . You can, however, purchase a 15 ft Miller M-150 mig gun #249041 ($163.99) or a 15 ft Miller M-25 mig gun #169598 ($269.05) to install on the Multimatic 200. You would then have 2 guns a 10ft and a 15ft.

What's the difference for a hobbiest welder between the multimatic 200 and a synco wave 210 with mig,tig and stick?
    1 Answers
The Miller Multimatic 200 Auto-Set Elite Welder 907518 is basically a mig welder that can also be used for stick welding and DC tig welding. The Miller Syncrowave 210 TIG/MIG is really a tig/ stick welder that Miller has adapted a spoolgun to it allow it to do light mig welding. If you plan on doing alot of Mig welding then the Multimatic would be the way to go. If your are planning on doing alot of tig weld, especially aluminum, the the Sycrowave would be a better choice.

I bought this welder a few years ago without the tig kit. It has been a really great machine. I recently decided to start tig welding with it, and I have everything I need except I have one question... The smith regulator that came with the unit, is this ok to use with Argon gas for tig welding? The reason I ask is that when i look in the manual for the machine, it shows a drawing of the tig gas connection to the machine being done with a regulator that has a flow meter on it. Mine does not have a flow meter it seems. Also I would like to know, if it IS ok to use the regulator that I already have, are there any advantages to using a regulator with a flow meter? My primary use for this will be tig welding low pressure heat system piping (not sanitary grade)
    1 Answers
The regulator that came with your Miller Multimatic 200 Auto-Set Elite Welder 907518 will work for tig welding.A regulator with a flow tube may be a little more accurate however it is not as durable

I am confused by the reply from Customer Service reference the $250 rebate. I read that the $250 rebate applies when you purchase just the Multimatic 200, with no additional accessories (Rebate machine only). And that the $500 rebate would apply if you made additional purchases equalling more than $500 (Rebate with additional purchases).
    1 Answers
If you purchase just the Miller Multimatic 200 Auto-Set Elite Welder 907518 alone you will receive a $250.00 rebate check from Miller once you complete and submit the appropriate rebate form to Miller... If you purchase a Miller Multimatic 200 and also purchase an additional $500.00 or more in Miller family accessories (Miller, Hobart,Weldcraft, Bernard,Smith products) Miller will send you a check for $500.00 once they receive a completed rebate form.. The accessories purchased must appear on the same order as the Multimatic..

My only concern with this welder is its durability especially when operated at full power for long periods. I know it has a 3 year warranty but I still recall enough folks at various venues having reliability issues.
    1 Answers
We have discussed your concerns about the durability of the Miller Multimatic 200 Auto-Set Elite Welder 907518 with Miller Electric. They indicted that they did have a minor problem with some early production models but that issue has long since been addressed. The Multimatic 200, as with all welding machines, has a Duty Cycle rating..Duty Cycle is the number of minutes out of a 10 minute time period that a welding machine can be operated at maximum rated output. For example the Multimatic 200 has a 20 % duty cycle at it's rated output of 150 amps in the mig mode. This means that the unit can weld continuously for 2 minutes out every 10 minutes at 150 amps before it shuts down to protect itself from over heating. The Multimatic is capable of producing 200 amps max for mig welding. If you were to operate Multimatic at max output the duty cycle would be approximately 5% so it will shut down sooner to protect itself. As long as the Multimatic is used in the parameters that it was designed for you should have no problems

The only difference between the Miller Multimatic 200 Auto-Set Elite Welder 907518 and the 907586 is the 907586 comes with the "free" tig contractor kit. The Multimatic 200 can be hooked up to any cylinder that has a CGA 580 inert gas connection.

can you weld aluminum with the mig torch that comes with it or do i need to purchas a spoolgun.
    1 Answers
You can weld aluminum with the Miller Multimatic 200 Auto-Set Elite Welder 907518 using the standard gun but is can be difficult and sometimes trying. The problem is the aluminum wire is soft and it does not want to feed thru the 10 ft length of the standard mig gun. It usually winds up bird nesting at the drive rolls or sometimes breaking off inside the gun. To make it work at all you would need to keep the mig gun as straight as possible and use an over sized contact tip.If you plan on welding aluminum on a regular basis it would be best to purchase the spool gun

If your going to run the Miller Multimatic 200 on 220 volt the .Direct Wire Extension Cord - 230 Volt , 25' or 50' 8/3. would be a good choice.. Your can find this on our site.. If you plan on running the Multimatic 200 on 110 volt your should look for a good quality cord that is made with a minimum of #12 wire but #10 wire would be better We do not have any 110 volt extension cords on the site

Great portable TIG pipe welding machine with ability for other processes
Used this machine for alot of small <6" medium and high pressure piping. Great machine even off of 110v but make sure circuit breaker can handle the amperage. Passed a lot of xrays on this little machine. As a jedi welder I recommend this welding machine the cost, versatility and ruggedness and cant be beat.
Cons110v option is great but check amperage on circuit before welding. This machine will pull some amps.

I have used the Multimatic everyday at work for a year and a half now. Mig/tig/stick and even the spoolmate work great. The spoolmate took some getting used to but it welded the aluminum just fine. Flux core runs good too. I do mostly tig and stick. I run hot too. This welder will tig on the highest setting for a 10 hour day no prob. I have always bought miller products. They have always been the best in my opinion. After running the multimatic 200 for so long at work I finally bought one off cyberweld.com for a great price. I am happy with my purchase.

    No regrets
You should get one. It is amazing.
    ProsPortable, multiprocess, clean welds
ConsLow duty cycle (hasn't been an issue for me though) Not an AC TIG, but that's kind of obvious right? "Low current max" you can do 3/8", but you'll need to work slower. This hasn't been an issue either. It will puddle a 3/32 into the face of a 3/8" plate with no complaints if turned up.

    great welder and components
works great and all the components came with it are quality. Does everything I need it to in a portable package until I can afford a dynasty. I would definitely recommend this welder to anyone.
Proswith tig kit it comes complete minus gas and perishables, great quality, easy to use, portable
ConsI think the only thing I would like to see for being at the top of the price range compared to its competitors is the addition of options like pulse feature.

    Awesome for around the house
So far, all I've done is tested the thing with a few lil stringers on relatively thin material and it works great. Its going to be perfect for around the home repairs and projects. Thing about the lil machines is a short duty cycle. But if you're doing it right; making short weds starring sides to reduce heat build and mitigate distortion, you'll typically spend enough time moving you or the piece around the you wont hit the limit anyway. I mean you're not building a skyscraper w this. You COULD but it might be frustrating waiting on the thing to cool off after running a long bead. Plus the charts and auto set make it stupid proof. I'm not a hardcore welder, and this takes the guesswork out of getting the current in the right ballpark. You can still tune it form there as you see fit. Its great!
ProsHighly capable Extremely portable Stupid-proof setup
ConsNot recommended for large scale industrial purposes where high output over long periods is needed. I mean just look at the ratings and cycles.

    Money Well Spent
Purchased this welder five months ago for garage projects and basically to weld everything metal, very happy with this machine. Auto set is by far my favorite feature it makes welding simple probably my grandma can do it. Downside can't TIG aluminum, the Spoolgun is kind of heavy duty for thinner metal.
ProsEasy smooth welds, makes welding easy with professional results.
    ConsDC Tig only.

    Great machine
This machine is perfect for welding on the go.it is as lite as they say it is. this machine can almost replace the old miller 211, almost,... I say because on long pulls you will hit its duty cycles end but the machine will do its best to keep up by magical oscillating the current. when I say long pulls I mean well over 6-8" continuous of at least 1/4" plate. This machine is awesome if you on the fence about buying it. BUY IT!!! I LOVE MINE.
ProsIt does what Miller says it does.

A GREAT DIY ALL IN ONE WELDER
This welder is versatile to say the least. It might not have all the options to make it the ideal MIG, TIG and Stick welder all wrapped up into one, but it has plenty of options packed into it to make great for the home garage/small shop. To say the least, it is a great welder for both learning and experienced welders. As always, Miller did a GREAT job putting this machine together. To make matters even better, Cyberweld has had nothing but perfect customer service and assistance all along the way. If you have the chance to get this welder, and it will handle all you are going to need it for (which it likely will), I strongly suggest to buy it!
ProsVersatility, many options in a small package, auto-set option to help dial your settings in, easy to go moblie, can do about all a DIY/small shop will need and then some, good first machine or even for an experienced welder (An experienced welder by me really liked it and said it was a GREAT buy even in comparison to his $3000 MIG unit and enjoyed welding with it)
ConsOnly comes with a 15A plug for 110V - would have been nice to have the 20A plug in case I am away from my 220V outlet.

    GREAT ALL AROUND MACHINE
So far this machine has done everything it claims. The autoset feature works great, I was really surprised. right out of the box I set to c25 mig, metal thickness and wire size then ran a nice smooth bead no problem. I have also used the aluminum mig gun and the tig torch with this machine. These both work as well as advertised. the only things I haven't tested yet are the stick welding and the multivolt plug in 240V. The 110V capability of this machine is beyond what I expected. it seems to handle the thicker material and not even struggle. I even managed to weld 1/4 AL on 110V when the autoset didn't even go to that thickness. The TIG was a bit different from what I'm used to because I've never used lift arc TIG before, but it still welded great after I got it figured out.
Prosgreat machine for the price, especially with the current miller rebate. more power than expected with the 110V. very easy for anyone to use and very light and portable, also very nice and quiet to use. fan on demand is nice. Auto set is better than expected. Multi volt plug is great for versatility also.
Conslift arc TIG was difficult to get used to after doing regular TIG. Changing processes is easy unless it requires you to change gas bottles, that is the worst part or changing processes in my opinion.

Expensive, but amazing bang for buck
Cyberweld actually had the best price I could find, by about 2 or 3 hundred bucks, plus they threw in the TIG kit, plus there was (at the time) a Miller rebate incentive, which meant that you could be fully set up for all three processes with a nice machine for the price of one or two dedicated process machines. The TIG mode is amazingly smooth, the mig great and the stick mode is super easy to strike. I've only been using it about a week, but I've been switching back and forth between processes with no issues.
ProsSmooth, user friendly, can switch between processes without having to totally break down the machine
ConsNo postflow control (that I know of)

    AWESOME MACHINE
We recently picked one of these units up for our smaller projects as sending an XMT 450 set up out to do small jobs just didn't make logistic sense. I had high hopes for this machine, and it exceeded them! I took it straight out of the box and put it to the test to see if it would fail. 70S-6 .035 with C25 I was able to lay bead after bead on shaft for an overlay, I was sure the machine could not hold up to the near constant duty cycle, after 15 minutes I had to stop... to let the material cool down, the machine was still putting down perfect beads pass after pass. So I switched to the stinger and grabbed a handful of 1/8" 7018, I was shocked at how well it started and maintained the arc; it welded as good or better than our XMT 304 shop machine. I laid several 3/16"-1/4" beads, it never showed signs of fading. the final test was to hook up the TIG kit... which I must say is one of the coolest features of this machine, switching processes is super easy... I ground the provided 3/32" tungsten and set the machine to max (150 amps) this is where my very first disappointment came, no high freq start, I'm over it; I was able to weld a 6" section of pipe with a nice crisp and even bead, I will note that I was only using 1/16" filler. All in all this machine exceeded my expectations in every aspect, the auto set is going to be great for our less experienced welders as every setting I put it on was spot on and produced nice beads with nearly no spatter. I'm sure this machine will pay for itself in no time flat... I may be ordering another one soon for my home garage.
ProsSuper easy set up, great weld quality with every process.
ConsNo High freq start TIG, not a big deal but it would be a nice option.

Great overall welder for portable field operations
I purchased this machine after months of research for my company. Cyberweld had best price point despite my local supply house warning me about cyber purchases and warranty issues. I received my unit in perfect packing and secure delivery. I went to plug everything up and the lugs on the Tig fitting and ground in the machine were too small! I called miller and spoke to a tec who by the way was unreal! I have herd about Miller great customer service and knowledge base and it is nice to see a company that knows the product! it was concluded that the brass machined fittings in the machine were cut too small! Miller advised to contact Cyberweld for a exchange and they would honor any and all warranty issues. I contacted cyberweld and they made the process quick as I had to return the unit then they would ship a new one. All went well ...A week later I receive a call from Miller to verify that my new machine made it and all is well. He explained the issue with the machined parts and corrected the problem. Cyberweld was professional in the aspect of a cyber store. My local Welding supply said if I purchased with them physically you can change the machine out in person same day, Miller in fact verified this to be true that is one perk of having a brick and mortar store. But that said they were 800 $ higher than cyberweld!!! I was out a welder for about 7 days before the exchange . This was not a deal breaker for future business with cyberweld as they ( cyber) made it right . Can't say enough about the customer service with Miller. After all my research and studies regarding inverter machines I was extremely nervous about them ( still am) how do they work you ask well I had several high value high pressure jobs pop up on job sites where one I only had 115 power / mig work. The machine ran like my shop machine blew the breaker a couple of times but made me look like a hero! They could not believe I was mig welding on that power! One Tig job same thing my only dig to this machine vs my shop on Tig is lift Arc on tiny parts this may be a issue but The Tig is smooth and stable ( I am a torch guy ) . The reason I am nervous is the guts of the machine so small,! My local weld repair guy Miller certified says the inverters are like magic until they go down then if the unit is out of warranty some of the small units a throw away ! Due to the cost of the pc board. But Miller backs all there gear for 3 years. As a business owner the cons on the inverters make me shake some days but they are paying the bills and if I keep feeding them work no worries , these little welders ( inverters) are quite amazing everyone tells me I need to get with the times ., I know all Welders have electronic components within the blue box but I still see old syncrowaves still going strong 15 years plus !! I love that welder BTW ! Well that's my rant will I purchase another inverter ( yes) but my business I have to plan my moves and overall the multimatic has performed above and beyond the call for what it is intended for
ProsLight, multi use TIG, Mig, Stick dual power 115-220
ConsDoes not hook up to 3 phase power I do service for plants and most a 220 is never around where I need to repair around. One bug on lugs but hey Miller and cyberweld made it right! Both have great customer service

    Good Welder
I bought this welder a little over a year ago and have not had a single problem until a few weeks ago the main board just took a dump, it is however getting repaired but still waiting a little over 3 plus weeks now and nothing. I love the welder just the time frame to get the repair done sucks.
    ProsGreat welder
ConsWish miller would be a little more on their game on having the parts in stock.

    Awesome Machine
I bought this welder a while back, and it is great. To be honest, I was skeptical when I purchased the welder. I figured that it being a multiprocess welder, it would perform all the tasks fair. I was wrong. Miller hit a homerun with this one. I bought all the accessories to go along with it, and so far everything performs just as I have come to expect from Miller... Nothing but top notch. I do a good bit of structural work so in the past welding up high was a task that I could only use my Bobcat for. This involved rolling out my 100 feet of leads to do a job that usually only took 10 minutes of welding. The light-weight compact design of this machine makes it a must for any mobile welder. The only drawback I see is that this machine is sensitive to dusty environments, so try not to expose it to too much dust.
ProsCompact. Lightweight. Extremely portable. Much cheaper than buying a Tig, Mig, and Stick separately. Performs just as well as the big single process machines.

    Very Nice Looking Machine
So far I haven't used this machine. It was easy to set up and looks very nice. I will be running this one next week. It's all set up and ready to go. It runnings very quite and seems very easy to use. The instructional videos that were sent with the product were very helpful.
ProsLight weight and best of all multi purpose.

    Versatile
I love this welder. I wanted something to replace my Millermatic 211 just because the 211 is heavy for mobile work all day. I was worried about some reviews I read regarding the inability to strike an arc with 1/8 inch 7018 rods. The day I got this Multimatic I unpacked it and completed a small mig job I was working on. Then I plugged in the SMAW electrode holder and ran some 1/8 inch 7018 beads. The beads were nice and smooth. I had NO problems with sticking. I had the welder plugged in to 230V. I haven't tried it with 110V because I don't need to. But all the welding I've done with it has made me realize I no longer need the Millermatic 211. I didn't even need to remove the mig gun to plug in the SMAW electrode stinger. Nice!

    What's not to like?
It does what it says it does. Coolest thing since sliced bread was invented.
    ProsSuperior product
ConsThe initial cost stings a bit, but you can curse a tool once (when purchasing) or you can curse it every time you try to use it (poor quality).

    Low Rating because...
Please read between the line here. Any welder knows that perfect welding conditions is hard to come by. When you have conditions less favorable you need to have full manual operation on your welder. On this welder you have a auto select feature that regulates Amperage and Voltage based on thickness of material and electrode size. That's it!! If you change it over to manual you can only adjust amperage. So in return you still have no manual operation for voltage. This is true for stick. You may have manual operation for Tig or Mig not sure as i haven't set it up for those processes yet. So if you look at the photos and you see a knob for voltage and amperage remember for stick you have no manual adjustment for voltage.
Merchant Response:Miller did have a software issue for stick welding which has been fixed. If you purchased a Multimatic 200 when it first came out, let us know and we'll send you the software upgrade.
ProsExcellent welder for hobbyist or beginner inside a shop
ConsNot for a professional. Spend the extra $ on the XMT 350 or Dynasty.

It doesn't get any better than this
I'm a beginner, and this is such an easy welder to learn on. Obviously, you can pay less, for a dedicated MIG, or stick or TIG, but for a machine that does it all, and only weighs 29 lbs, it's pretty awesome.
ProsDoes it all. Very light weight. Quiet.
ConsPricey, but you get what you've paid for.

This things works great I have tired all the different welding process and have not problems with any of them, and I love the fact it has a small foot print and changing from one process to another is a breeze. Also with the auto-set feature make things very nice.

    Miller Multimatic 200
Nice little machine. I had a Passport and sold it because I wanted more current than the Passport could put out at 115v. The Multimatic 200 does great at short arc mig. I was using it to weld vertical up fillet welds and it looks like the same kind weld bead that the 350P or XMT 350 produce (I own both of those larger machines). I used it to stick weld 7018 vertical up and 7010 vertical down and it does fine (at 115v). I'm quite happy with it. I also have a Maxstar 150 TIG / Stick welder that I use with 115v but I won't be selling that because it is a little less weight and more portable. I havn't tried the Multimatic 200 TIG welding yet, but I will soon. I've got a Syncrowave 351 that I do most of my TIG welding with, but the Maxstar 150 is what I use for field work.
    ProsLightweight and multi-process on 115v
ConsWould be nice to have a vercro side pocket like the Passport

    wonderful little welder
Light weight, does exactly what is advertised. I would not recommend it for an 80% duty cycle in a fab shop, but it isn't rated for that. Mine pushes a 5/32 7014 rod without any fuss (lincoln fleetweld 47). The mig functions beautifully and the tig operates just like you would expect. Only oddity is the cables outweighing the welder....an unusual occurrence.

    miller multimatic 200 from cyberweld
this product has been great so far. i've used for tig and stick. cyberweld had the best price around and was able to have the machine to me within 24 hours (my miller sales rep told me i'd have to wait a month and that it would cost 25% more!)

    miller multimatic 200 auto-elite
extremely disappointed !!! Maxed out amperage using 220V input this machine struggles to strike an arc w 3/32 7018 to make matters worse this machine has no hot start setting ,not impressed with the auto select function more of a hassle then just setting the process and amperage ,more like a gimmick for the beginner that has little to no experience welding.
Merchant Response:Miller has acknowledged a problem striking an arc with stick electrodes with earlier Multimatic 200 welders. There is an available software upgrade for your machine. It is free of charge. Please contact us at (800) 245-9353 so we can send you out a memory upgrade drive.
Prosvery well constructed, feels sturdy, standard accessories well made and made in U.S.A. came with bernard industrial MIG gun and a Smith regulator stinger has heavy spring tension and quality weight
Consthis machine absolutely SUCKS for stick welding !!! does not come standard w TIG torch or spoolgun
