The welding hood is used in a warehouse type shop, were gmaw is mostly done. Welding hood is not exposed to the elements and it is kept in its bag and in a toolbox after an 10 hour shift.
Bought the miller performance welding hood in February, it is a proper light welding hood. And after 11 months of use it has started to show some signs of wear.
The head gear started to get sloppy around July/August. The hood would not stay up in position . It would gradually pull down.
By October the darn thing willing not stay up no matter how much you try to tighten the head gear. (Not sure if it is covered by the 3 year warranty, some companies only warrant some bits of what they sell).
Battery use; it has gone through 3 battery changes. It seems way to excessive for a 11 month period.
The first time it had a new battery set the lcd screen went black, not as in welding dark setting but busted black screen.
The second time it did the opposite. It is always fun to get some unexpected flashburn mid weld. The screen got stuck in grinding mode.
On both occasions the batteries were removed and re inserted, only then the blinking indicator started indicating.
The last two occasions the indicator was blinking the low battery signal. (As it should)
I gave a 3 star review, it felt that there are areas that need improvement.
