I've used a Speedglas 9100 for several years and love it, but the adflo system and filters were just too expensive for me to stick with 3M when deciding on a PAPR hood. I chose this hood instead based on Optrel's reputation, price, and my dislike of competitors' offerings. All in all it's a great hood, with outstanding lens clarity and fairly good comfort. It does a great job of filtering out welding fumes, including galvanized and stick fume. I've yet to really test the battery runtime and filter life, but extra batteries aren't crazy expensive (relatively) and neither are the filters. If I didn't need shade 13, I'd probably have bought the Crystal 2.0 instead, since it has much better light state / grinding performance.
Pros: Fantastic view of the weld puddle with neutral color, not uncomfortable, competitively-priced consumables, adjustable airflow, good PAPR performance.
Cons: Very expensive cover lenses, glare through the lens and overall poor visibility in light state, blower could be more powerful. Belt is not particularly sturdy or comfortable. Accessories and consumables can be hard to find in the US.
