Expanded Craft Maintenance guy here. I am responsible for keeping industrial pipe benders, and other machinery running at my job. I was tired of dragging out the gargantuan Miller Bobcat welder/generator for every little job I had to do. In addition, trying to tack weld a broken off stud deep inside a machine with a 1/8" rod without arcing to anything else is a major challenge.
I bought this little flux core unit, and WOW am I pleased with it! Busted off studs and bolts are much more doable when you can stick a piece of copper pipe into the hole, then flux core weld it up until you can get to the weld, and work it out. (The copper won't stick to the weld, and it keeps the threads clean.)
Other jobs are easy too when all you have to do is plug into 110V receptacles with regular extension cords. No Tanks of flux gas! Weld outside! Weighs 44 lbs!
(At first I looked into that famous import freight place welder for$170 that weighs 15 lbs. I assumed it was IGBT, or MOSFET circuitry. Nope, it's a transformer machine like this one....something like a doorbell transformer! 90 day warranty!)
Hobart has a 3 yr warranty on this thing. It does the gig and is HAPPY about it!
It's not a fussy eater. I feed it the cheapest flux core wire I can get online. Welds like a champ. No complaints.
As always, Cyberweld spoils you with fast service and everything arrived in splendid condition, ready to rock. Thanks, Guys!
Just realize, you can't weld…
