I received my SmarTIGer helmet from Cyberweld today. I also received my inside and outside Safety Lens Kits, Magnifying Lens Holder and two magnifying lenses.
Compared to my old Jackson ADF helmet this SmarTIGer is quite a find. The helmet is very light and, after adjustment, the headgear fit me very well.
The Balder optics in this helmet are simply amazing! It is easy to see to do my setup; with my old Jackson ADF I was "guessing" much of the time. When I start an arc, boom! - the filter does its job and I can still easily see what I am doing. With my old Jackson ADF I experienced so much glare from the arc (in spite of the darkened filter) that I was, er, guessing again.
I installed the Magnifying Lens Holder and installed a 2.00 magnifying lens. I swapped my trifocals (it's tough getting old) for a pair of safety glasses and went at it again. Perfect! And the area of magnification was so much larger than using my old Jackson ADF with my prescription lenses. If you ever want to give yourself a sore neck (and head, and eyestrain) try welding small detail while wearing trifocals. It's a different world with this SmarTIGer set up the way I have it now. Very nice! What a relief!
I obviously can't speak to durability of the SmarTIGer yet. My first impression is that this is a very nice helmet that will meet my needs for TIG welding. Great optics, and the accessories should help me use the helmet to its full capability.
