Miller® LPR-100 Gen. II Half Mask Respirator (Medium/Large) 294962

Genuine Miller® LPR-100 Gen. II Half Mask Respirator (Size M/L) filters 99.97 percent of welding fumes and mists. The advanced replaceable P100 filter cartridges provide 55% less resistance than previous models, for easier breathing. They have an assigned protection factor (APF) of 10 and effectively remove airborne particles and oil aerosols, hazardous solid dust particles, metal fumes and mists including: hexavalent chromium metal, stainless steel, galvanized steel, steel/manganese alloys, aluminum, cadmium and lead fumes.

      Nice mask. Good air flow. Glasses are an issue.

      I ended up ordering a 3M PAPR auto-darkening helmet so that I can wear glasses while avoiding fumes while welding. I have different strength pairs of "reading"strength glasses for different arm length positions.

      The rub with cheater lenses is the "vertex distance". Google it to get an idea of the number of factors that go into seeing stuff including your helmet adjustment front to back. Bottom line is that it is so much easier to get a PAPR and use reading glasses that fit on your nose than to, in my words, spin the vertex distance wheel to get all the stars to line up with cheater lenses.

      I'm an licensed optician and can spin the vertex roulette wheel better than most but why when a PAPR setup does the trick so much faster with wider field of vision results.

      Downside is cost of the PAPR.
