      When a product reaches perfection.

Jackson has truly reached perfection in this hood. It does everything a hood should do, and better than any other hoods I've owned. I have owned, Jackson Truesight: Too heavy, top heavy, Miller Titanium flip vison: Too heavy, crappy flip mechanism, horrible headgear, overly complicated, Speedglas 9100xx: Too wide hard to fit in tight spots. Fibremetal Pipeliner, I love this hood but I'm not a pipe welder, I weld and fit up trains the pipe liner lacks sufficient neck protection for the high amp MIG I run daily. This hood has the best neck protection of all the hoods I've owned, the best headgear, it's the lightest, easiest to fit into tight spots and the cover lenses are 15$ for a box of 100. I threw in an auto dark lens in mine and the rest of my hoods are either sold or in storage. The company I work for supplies a Miller Titanium PAPR, and Miller Titanium flip front but I can't stand them, too heavy I stick to what is in my eyes perfection in a welding hood (For the kind of work I do). I hope and pray Jackson keeps this design for years to come, nothing needs changing.

      My 2 cents.

      Very good helmet

I like it because it is not auto shade type, with the auto shades I have experienced those helmets would change from a lighter shade to darker when doing welding on very thin stainless when I was welding aircraft parts.

Jackson Welding Helmet - HSL2 Passive Lens 14982

I like this welding helmet very much. The head band is comfortable. The helmet locks back in the up position securely too! I like the flip - up front lens because I use An auto - darkening ArcOne S240 - 10 shade filter lens. If I am starting A tack or A weld in A shadowed space, I can still flip the front lens up to see where to start; point the MIG gun into position, close the flip lens and then pull the trigger. Hence, I have the best of both worlds! The helmet is very light weight too.

Best Hood I have ever owned

I have been using this hood for years, I have always have despised ADF. This was the best choice i have made.

I always hated ADF because they are over priced, they were often times heavy. They run on at most times unreplaceable batteries which dysfunction, and when they do, it flashes in my face and gives me welders flash. The general construction with autotint hoods usually lack because of economic reasons. The shells are usually flimsy, headgear lower quality, and all minds of stupid settings that waste your time and are very unresponsive and the shade is not exactly what the dial says it is. Unless you spend $175- $1000 range, if not they just plain junk.I believe this technology is too young to be so spread out in the market.

I really believe that a fixed passive shade is the true answer. Because is works no matter what and will never fail you. And if you can memorize where your hand was, it is easy to very precise. You will never get welders flash.

I would completely recomend gold plated lens, as they have superior vision, keeps you cooler, more ergonomic, and because it reflects harmful rays, it keeps your eyes from getting tired and fatigue.

Anyways lets talk about this hood. I love it for its simplicity, no settings, no worry for battery failure, nothing, just carry along and weld all day. The front flip adds to its usefullness, making it an instant face shield. I could grind, inspect welds closely, and chip slag off with chipping hammer or whire wheel. The…
