Can it get refill with propain gas
1 Answer
Turbo Torch advises that the Cyl Tec Inert gas cylinders are used for inert gases only, due to their CGA 580 outlet. A typical propane tank would require a CGA 510 outlet.
We have propane tanks available on our website:

Are y'all sure local gas companies will not have a problem refilling this bottle. Assure me that there won't be a problem and I will order one as soon as I hear from you ! Thanks
1 Answer
The The Cyl Tec Inert Gas Cylinder - 60 Cubic Foot and all our cylinders are brand new and will not require retesting for 10 years. They are DOT approved and have the required DOT # stamped into them..We have sold hundreds of these cylinders over the years. In most cases there is no problem in having them filled. Occasionally there will be a gas distributor who will refuse to fill the cylinder. This is usually a case of sour grapes because he is ticked off because he did not get the cylinder sale. We cannot guarantee that your local gas distributor will fill the cylinder. If you purchase the cylinder from us empty and you cannot get it filled you can return it. However you will be responsible for the cost to return it.

can straight argon be used with mild steel mig welding?
1 Answer
You should not use straight argon to mig weld mild steel. A mixture of 75% argon and 25% co2 would be a good choice for your application or you can in some cases use straight co2. However welding with straight co2 will produce a harsher arc and will increase the amount of weld spatter

I read that the 20 cubic cylinder is about 12 pounds and the 40 cubic is about 28 pounds. Was the person answering the weight question above sure that the 60 cubic cylinder is only 30 pounds?
1 Answer
In order to answer your question regarding the weights of the Cyl Tec Inert Gas Cylinders we have taken a empty 20 cu ft cylinder, a 40 cu ft cylinder, and 60 cu ft cylinder from inventory and weighed each one .. The 20 cu ft weighed 13 lbs, the 40 cu ft weighed 27 lbs and the 60 cu ft weighed 28 lbs

I am new to welding and it will be an occasional hobby, around the house type of endeavor. I'll be purchasing a Millermatic 211 mig welder and I am trying to determine what size inert gas cylilnder to purchase. Can you provide any help in terms of how long inert gas cylinders of varying sizes last on average?
Thank you,
Bill
1 Answer
There is no way to accurately determine your shielding gas usage and cylinder size in a hobbyist situation . Generally your flow gauge will be set at 10 to 20 cubic ft per hour. For example if you set your flow gauge at 20 cu ft/hr and you have a 20 cu ft cylinder and you weld for 1 hour continuously you will empty the cylinder in 1 hour. This is unrealistic, however it does give you a feel for the rate of gas usage. A Cyl Tec Inert Gas Cylinder - 40 Cubic Foot is a very popular size for hobbyists. Probably the most important factor in choosing a cylinder size is the location of your local industrial gas supplier when you need a refill. If you supplier is close by and can go with a smaller cylinder. If you supplier is a distance away you may want to choose a larger cylinder.
