I purchased this as an upgrade to my other gas driven 1971 Hobart unit with a smaller generator. The GFCI outlet indicated it was defective out of the box, but Customer Service had one delivered in a couple days-the alternative was to return it or ship it to a repair facility. I have owned this product over a year with no problems and it is much nicer and quieter to weld with than my older 42 year old unit. The unit has a fast response time. I waited for the EPA certified unit which seals the tank and keeps your fuel good for longer periods. As a standby generator, I recently tested the generator at full load at my farthest receptacle and the hertz and voltage was right on the money. This Hobart was substantially cheaper than the competitor (who actually makes this unit) and the extra money, to me, was worth the welding capability and the HD engine over a generator only unit. Many engines on generator only and smaller units do not have cast iron sleeves or HD engines, so your life expectancy is limited. I believe this unit will go the distance and I too can pass the unit on to my next generation.
