Large viewing area, large ratchet nob on head band works great. The helmet stays up and only flips down with a slight head nod, works every time. Very satisfied and might get another. Cant beat the price and free shipping.

    its fine

Its fine. Light and head band has improved, however its not heat resisting. If you put on hot pc by accident it will melt a hole, that's what happened to my other one.

    Good Helmet
    December 26, 2016
It works well. The screws that clamp down onto the helmet in order to give resistance to the flip down are made of plastic but they work well anyway. If you bring the helmet all the way up it sort of "snaps" into place and is a little harder to pull down which is a nice feature. This helmet is good and for me it is the bare minimum of what a helmet should provide. Unlike a Hobart helmet which will not stay up (Hobart helmets use plastic screws that instantly strip their threads off).
ProsThe fact that the helmet sticks in place a little bit when fully upright is a nice feature.
ConsPlastic Screws and nuts for providing friction to the up/down movement are not preferred. But they do work so far. Adjusting the head harness so that your face is as close as possible to the glass will not work, your eyes will be level with the bottom edge of the glass.

This is a Jackson! the new head gear is great. fits very nice. It has the big knob on the back to adjust it and you can have heavy gloves on.

    December 18, 2015
I got this helmet because I wanted to put a gold lens in it. It was the right size for most lenses and has a large viewing area. This helmet is now even better with a gold lens. Also the headgear is wicked nice. Fits like a glove for your face! As Rex Ryan might say "idk it's pretty effin good"
ProsHuge viewing area Easily fits a gold lens Very very light weight No low amp flashes like the cheap auto dark u have now does

    Headgear too Fragile
    July 27, 2015
I want the old-style of Jackson headgear back! In 27 years of welding, I never had my headgear adjustment ratchet break on me. I'm now on my 4'th set of new-style headgear in the last 9 months! The gear is comfortable, but the ratchet breaks way too easily, not a good trade-off. If I didn't have so much invested in my auto-darkening lens, I'd switch helmet brands.
    ProsVery comfortable
    ConsFragile adjustment ratchet.

    Simple Cheap Helmet
    August 16, 2014
This is my first helmet and I was surprised by how comfortable it was. The pivot seems to be just the right amount of friction. I simple head nod and the lid is fully down yet it doesn't fall as you look down at something. The head strap is slightly padded at the back and the adjustment knobs are well made and sound like they will last a good long time.
Pros-Light -Good hinges -Good head band -Cheap -Common Lenses

The Passive Lens Welding Helmet to Beat
    May 24, 2014
Great starter helmet. It helped me get my current job. When I buy a new helmet it will remain my trusty backup. It is really comfortable and I love the size adjust ratchet on the back headband. The large field of vision is another big plus. I only wish I had bought it on this website because it's cheaper here!
    Pros+Lightweight +Huge field of view +Comfortable +Durable
Cons- I'm ready for an auto-darkening or accu-strike helmet now

    Great Value
    February 19, 2013
Got this helmet when I started taking welding classes, took a combined 6 months of stick, MIG and TIG, got a job after I got done with classes, have been there 3 months. Simple, passive hood. Replacement Filter and cover plates are easy to find, and inexpensive. Some melting of plastic has occurred from coming in contact with fresh welds, but nothing serious. Headgear is very comfortable, easy to use and after almost a year of use, it still locks up, out of the way, and headband still locks tight to my head. Great value if you're not willing to shell out for an autoshade helmet.
