Miller Maxstar® 210 STR Stick Welder 907682

The Miller Maxstar® 210 STR is a 210 amp stick and Lift-Arc DC TIG welder. Weighing only 36 pounds, the Maxstar® 210 STR provides up to 210 amps of code-quality DC output, delivering enough power to weld with 1/8 and 5/32 inch diameter E6010 and E7018 electrodes.

The Maxstar 210 STR features Auto-Line™, which allows you to plug into any outlet ranging from 115 to 460 volts, single or three-phase, 50 or 60 hertz, without manual re-linking. Low OCV (Open Circuit Voltage) in the Stick mode, reduces open circuit voltage to 13 volts when not in use. Other features include Adaptive Hot Start and Adjustable Dig for Stick, Lift Arc for TIG, and remote facilities for easy remote hook up.

    Features:
  • Dual schedule allows operators to switch welding parameters for specific electrodes without readjusting the machine, minimizing downtime and enhancing quality.
  • DIG control allows the arc characteristics to be changed for specific applications and electrodes. Lower the DIG setting for smooth running electrodes like E7018 and increase the DIG setting for stiffer, more penetrating electrodes like E6010.
  • Hot Start™ adaptive control provides positive arc starts without sticking.
  • Stick-Stuck detects if the electrode is stuck to the part and turns the welding output off to safely and easily remove the electrode. Menu selectable.
  • Upgradeable and expandable. Front panel memory card data port provides the ability to easily upgrade software and expand product features.
  • Pro-Set™ feature (professional settings) eliminates the guesswork when setting weld parameters. Use Pro-Set when you want the speed, convenience and confidence of pre-set controls. Simply select the feature and adjust until Pro-Set appears on the display. The Pro-Set feature is available for Balance, Frequency, Pulse, and DIG parameters.
  • Lift-Arc™ start provides TIG arc starting without the use of high frequency.
  • Sleep timer conserves electricity. This programmable feature will power down the machine if it sits idle for a specific time.
  • Auto-Line™ provides state-of-the-art flexibility by automatically connecting to 208-575 VAC, single- or three- phase power without removing the covers to re-link the power source. No longer is there a concern if you have the correct machine for the shop or the job site.
  • Meter calibration. Digital meters can be calibrated to a standard device for certification.
  • Wind Tunnel Technology™ protects internal electrical components from airborne contaminates, extending the product life.
  • Fan-On-Demand™ power source cooling system operates only when needed, reducing noise, energy use and the amount of contaminates pulled though the machine
  • Thermal Overload Protection - Internal components are protected from damage by thermal overload protection which automatically shuts down the unit if duty cycle is exceeded or air flow and cooling are restricted.
  • Wireless remote compatible - fully compatible with Miller wireless remote control solutions so you can work the way you want

What is the difference in the settings DC stick and schedule 1 DC stick on the machine
Miller advises that the DC Stick and Schedule 1 or 2 is basically a way to set your own parameters on the machine. For example: If you have 2 jobs to do, you can set the parameters for job one on DC Stick and then you can set the parameters for job 2 on Schedule 1- in order to avoid having to change your settings back and forth.

Can you put a 12vs on this machine?
Miller advises that you cannot run a Miller SuitCase X-TREME 12VS Wire Feeder on a Miller Maxstar 210. The reason being, the Maxstar 210 STR is a CC (constant current) machine and will not accept the 12VS since it is a CV (constant voltage) machine.

I have seen two versions of this machine and I couldn't figure out any difference. One is called the Maxstar 200 STR stick welder and the other one is called the Maxstar 200 STR Low OCV. The specs were the same but the price was cheaper for the Low OCV. I don't understand why one is cheaper than the other because they both have Low OCV. Cheers TyT
There are 2 versions of theMiller Maxstar 200 STR Stick Welder . There is the 907036 (low ocv version) and the 907036-001 (normal voltage version). Most stick welders have and open circuit voltage of approx. 70 to 80 volts .. There is some schools of thought that voltage in this range could cause a fairly good shock.. In the past voltage reducers have been added to machines to reduce this chance for a shock. With the advent of today's electronics Miller has been able to produce an stick welder that now has a low open circuit voltage (ocv) 9-14 volts yet it will perform the same as a higher voltage machine when stick welding . The low ocv version is the more popular model and because of this it is priced lower than the normal version

    Great little machine
I am a pipe welder and weld to the B31.1 spec which includes a lot of X-Ray. This machine does a great job and I also really like the fast switching between my two presets, one for 7010 and the other for 7018.
Proslove the way the machine lets you use an extended arc to wash your joint love the autoline feature
Consonly con I can think of is the price, which in todays world it really is not that bad for what you are getting.

Great thus far. Just received the machine today! I'm glad I read up on the machine and pre purchased a NEMA 6-50 as it does not come with a plug. Way different than my buzzbox and way better also. Ran 6010, 6011 and 7018 like a charm!! However on 115v you can definitely feel a reduction in power when striking an arc. But it still runs 3/32 rods great. The dig setting adjustment is cool but I just set it to 50 and never touched it again.
ProsLight weight and powerfull. Runs smooth. Auto line is a great feature. Can be ran on 115v which is really nice.
ConsNone except price but its worth it!
