What is the x mode in the helmets
    1 Answer
The Miller Welding Helmet - Black Digital Elite Lens 257213 has Miller's X mode feature. This feature not only senses the welding arc, but it senses the electro magnetic field from the welding arc. If you are welding with a helmet that does not have X mode and the arc light sensors are blocked the lens will not darken and you may get flashed. If you helmet has X mode and the arc light sensors become blocked the lens will still darken because it is sensing the electro magnetic field from the weld arc. We are not sure what you asking in your question when you are saying fresh air.. If you are talking about a Powered Air Purifying Respirator PAPR there is no PAPR system that works with your Miller Welding Helmet - Black Digital Elite Lens 257213.All Miller PAPR stems work only with the Miller Titanium helmets. Miller does offer a Miller CoolBelt Welding Helmet Cooling System 245230 which blows cool air under the welding helmet to lower the under hood temperature and also helps to remove stagnant air. This system does not provide purified air.. The Coolbelt will work with your Miller Welding Helmet - Black Digital Elite Lens 257213

Once you strike an arc the lense automatically darkens to a shade from # 8 to #13 which ever you have choosen and then the weld area is then illuminated by the arc

Well I've bought from the Classic to Digital Performance. And now I have the Digital Elite Clear Light. I gotta say I keep getting impressed even more now with the Digital Elite, I get a bigger picture, clearer puddles, 4 sensors, and best of all a blue hue. I love the head piece it hugs thy skull snugly if that's a word lol. I mig weld roll cages so on round tubing its challenging in some positions as is welding around or having to duck down at weird angels those 4 sensors kick in nicely, I don't get flash attacks and that's something I've been struggling with for 3 years till now. Best hood I've owned yet.

    It works
Can't say much other than it darkens when it detects an arc and the viewable area is large enough to see what you're doing. Best of all, the price isn't much higher than a lesser Hobart and you get the ClearView Optics plus a generous rebate.

    Great upgrade
I had a Miller Performance series helmet I used almost every day for the past 10 years. It was a great helmet but low amp TIG or welding around or behind tubes made it undarken and blind you temporarily. This helmet with X mode fixes that plus the Clear View technology is amazing. I can see so much better and my welds look better. The weld puddle is so much more visible. The headgear is different but to me more comfortable than the previous design. I only wish I had bought one sooner.
ProsX mode is great Easy adjustments of settings Comfortable head gear Easy on your eyes welding all day Clear View technology is amazing Still relatively lightweight
ConsHoods with graphics except for the CAT design, don't have the front access door.

    First Time Purchasing from CyberWeld
CyberWeld's prices were way lower than anyone else on this Miller Elite hood. Shipping was fast. Like many other reviewers, the largest gripe about the helmet is the headgear being very weak, no matter how much you tighten the side nuts to provide extra tension when the hood is in the UP position. The slightest posture change or movement sends the hood down a few notches - or completely. THIS, was frustrating. Although, my frustration was my own mistake. There is a definitive UP-Position positive click that you must engage when raising the hood. As with all things made of plastic, I am cautious not to push the limits of its own dexterity for fear of breaking something. When you raise the hood up, it stops, then add another few pounds of pressure and it will positively throw into an obvious UP notch that keeps the hood in place while you bend down and move your project around. I have read around 20+ reviews about this exact issue with people furious that Miller would put out such an awful headgear with this hood. Not the case at all. The headgear is comfortable and operable.

    Great Helmet for Tired Eyes
This helmet provides the best vision of the actual welding operation that I have experienced. Failing eyesight has always been a problem with my welding effort and this helmet "turns on the light" and enables good visibility of the welding puddle.

4 stars as I have not used it yet
As far as quality, price, and ease of ordering I would have given it a 5 star. Since it has not been put into use as of yet I don't know about how it will live up to other reviews? My hope is that it lives up to my expectations. I have an older non auto darkening helmet with # 9 & # 10 lens, but still seems to dark for accurate bead control. Hopefully this solves my issue?

I used a non auto darkening helmet for the last 5 years and thought there wouldn't be that big of a difference. The Miller digital elite is a welding game changer for me. Arc strikes are easy to place, and the weld puddle is clear and easy to see, it's pretty comfortable as well. Adjustments to the lens shade and headgear are simple and intuitive.

Perfect helmet for the hobby welder
After many years welding with all kinds of helmets this is my second auto-adjusting Miller helmet and they have improved greatly over the years. This one is lighter, has a much better head band, sensor and shade adjustments are very easy and it just seems very well designed. I do not use it for grinding, yet that option is available if you are so inclined. While I weld as a hobby only I would recommend this to anyone wanting a good lightweight auto darkening helmet. I would suggest that you don't go cheap when it comes to your eye protection and besides I think this could make you a better welder too.

Fast delivery, and wonderful to use. After setting up the helmet it is ready to go. I can finally set up to weld. and not lose the starting mark. Just pull the trigger and it changes, release and it returns to normal. The 4 sensors make it very sensitive and reliable. One of the best tool purchases I made this year. Professional Welder
I love the helmet. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the headgear. Myself like most of my coworkers wear bandannas and the headgear won't fit over the knot. Either my coworkers don't use a bandanna anymore or they've ordered the older style headgear. I just took the lens out of this helmet and put it in my old one.

    Headgear issue
I have seen a few reviews about the hood not staying up. I had the same problem until I realized if you push the hood up until it "detents" it stays up all day long, and as long as you don't have too much friction on the side nuts, it will drop easily with the head nod. (I had the he 'head nod habit" prior to auto dark lens technology also) hope this helps.
Cyberweld is awesome by the way, best prices, fast response, good selection.

    Can't keep it up
I'm a noob learning welder and for the life of me when the helmet is clicked in the up position the helmet keeps falling down when I least expect it. Likely I'm simply shaking my head inadvertently... more than a real welder would do to get it to drop.... but I wonder at the same time. While it's great the headset is "newly re-engineered" this helmet isn't light and better pivot points are required.

Lens is great, helmet itself needs improvement.
I've had this helmet a few weeks now and I really like the lens and the control panel. The helmet however leaves some to be desired. My main problem is that when the helmet is flipped up it doesn't stay in the up position. I have to keep pushing it back up, as it falls down into my view when I am trying to set up my work piece prior to welding. The adjust-ability of the headgear is ok, nothing special, but nothing that takes away from the function of the helmet. I just wish the helmet would stay up when I am fooling with stuff on the bench. Maybe I need to do some adjusting, but it sure is annoying.

    First Miller hood.
This is a great product, way better than anything else I've had in the past with an amazing price. It came with three sets of extra protective lenses, and welding sleeves. I bought the black one to personalize myself. When it's time for a new one I will be returning here.
ProsGreat price, visibility, and performance. The x mode is the best perk with this hood.
ConsNone, but wish there were more designs. You can always buy a wrap for a black hood, there are plenty.

    Best I've used
I've used many different helmets over the years but this is the best I've put on my head. Best vision and comfortable. And cyberweld is the best to buy your next product.

    Best value ADF helmet
Very reasonable price for a helmet with advanced features in the ADF lens. Headgear is very comfortable with a quick adjust feature for depth that is easy to use. The helmet is well balanced and reasonably light and for such a large view area I am accustomed to helmets that weigh a great deal more. I teach welding at a public adult education facility and privately as well and I recommend this helmet for the advanced hobbyist or any other student that is entering a production TIG or MIG welding shop. These increase production over passive shields tremendously and minimize the risk of flash burn to the eye from accidental arc strike in all welding techniques. If you're going to be under the helmet 8 to 10 hours a day you need light weight and good performance to minimize fatigue and this is that helmet package. With the 5 extra inner and outer cover plates and the helmet bag this is a surprisingly good value.
ProsGreat headgear, great shade, light helmet

    Digital Elite Helmet
I received a Digital Elite helmet about 3 weeks ago and have used it several times. The helmet works fits great. So far only used it for TIG but I'll try the gas cutting and grinding modes soon. My expectation is it will function great. I would recommend this helmet and Cyberweld to others.

After deciding which automatic helmet I wanted, the search narrowed down to finding the best source. Cyberweld has always been fast and well-priced. Excellent customer service and a very efficient website.

    It's a good hood
I bought this hood when I got a new job because the shop I used to work at provided these for all employees so I knew it was good. I had a very hard time deciding between this and the Speedglas 9100X. I chose this hood though because I know it is extremely reliable. I love that it has 4 sensors, a 1/20,000 switching speed from light to dark, and the X-mode for when you are in tight spaces. This hood is pretty heavy, but you kind of get used to it. I usually work 10 hour days and the weight does bother me sometimes, but most of the time it doesn't bother me. One thing I hate about this hood though is the front cover you have to take off to replace the cover lens. It's a great idea, but it needs some fine tuning because it is a pain in the butt to take on and put back on. Overall it's a very reliable hood, with decent optics and clarity. I may get a Speedglas somewhere down the line to compare the two.
Pros4 sensors X-mode 1/20,000 second switching speed Reliable
    ConsA little heavy Front cover
