Old Dog Learns New Trick
August 31, 2020
After years of finger feeding filler rod I have to admit that it took a little getting used to but by the time I ran my first rod through it felt comfortable and natural in my hand.
At the end of the second rod I noticed I was laying more consistent and even beads. Third rod through I am convinced this is the best thing since sliced bread.
After a few hours welding I thought I would try the "old school" way of welding and finger feed a couple rods like in the old days. NO THANK YOU! I have since ordered a second one that is hanging on the wall just in case something happens to this one.
Pros-Easy to load and use with gloves on
-Comfortable and fits the hand
-Does NOT roll around the table when laid down
-Helps produce consistent and even beads
-Rod loads from either end
Cons-When picking it up you need to orient it so your finger lines up with the feeder wheel. For me that means using my other hand to spin it properly because of arthritic hands that don't work like they used to.
