Thermal Dynamics® Cutmaster® 40 Plasma Cutter 1-4000-1

The Thermal Dynamics® Cutmaster® 40 is a 40 amp plasma cutter that cuts up to 1/2 inch thick mild steel and operates on single-phase, 110V to 240V input power. Weighing in at just 22 pounds, the Cutmaster 40 is highly portable, yet surprisingly powerful and comes complete with ESAB's industry best 4-year warranty.

The Cutmaster 40 features a 16 foot ,SL60™ 1Torch® with Black Series plasma electrode for up to 60% longer consumables life. Rugged case design has three lift points for comfort and convenience while on the move. ESAB Thermal Dynamics® Cutmaster® 40 is IP23 designed to be used with confidence indoors or outdoors.

      I have had Cutmaster 40 for about a year now . Being new to plasma cutting it took a little time to learn the machine settings and consumable uses. I am very happy with my purchase and have no regrets.

      Honestly????

      Honestly, thermodynamics machines are typically a very good reliable system. Esab. However after using the plasma cut 40 for the last couple of weeks I will say that although it says it is a true 1/2 cut machine "it is not guys". It will struggle through half-inch plate if you are very very slow and careful not to overheat the unit. Even 3/8 plate will overheat the unit relatively quickly drag bit no drag bit makes no difference. Quite honestly I think I've could have got more for my money with a Miller unit. We were very excited that the company allowed us to buy this machine but really doesn't meet our needs. Although we don't cut half inch plate that often it's still with even the minor fabrication work that we do here in the shop doesn't fit the bill unfortunately. Thermodynamics has been known for superior reliability and awesome performance. But I think they dropped the ball on this one. Great look easy usage but performance sucks.
