      The smallest welding nozzle

This welding nozzle turned out to be perfect for welding sheet lead. This particular series of nozzles have been difficult to obtain in the past from other vendors. As it was, it only took one week for my order to be filled. I am very satisfied with the customer service on this sale.

Yes, the picture is of welds on 1/8" thick sheet lead. The third and seventh welds from the right are joining two sheets of lead. The other welds are bead on plate. On the left hand side, it can be seen how easy burn through is on lead.

Sheet lead is used as a very durable flashing material on masonry, especially chimneys. The problem with using galvanized or aluminum flashing is that the alkaline leachate from the mortar very quickly corrodes them. Usually galvanized or aluminum flashing have to be periodically replaced when used with masonry. Lead flashing is more common in Europe and the UK. Some buildings have lead flashing that is centuries old. And no, lead flashing does not present the same health problem that lead based paints do.
