Do I need a check valve or a flashback arrestor with the 30-20-540 oxygen regulator I'll be using it with a smith little torch
    1 Answer
You can purchase flash arrestors for the Smith Little Torch Jeweler's Torch Outfit 23-1001D however because of the design of the little torch you can only use the regulator mount type. You can go here to see this set http://store.cyberweld.com/smflarsre.html.

Can i use (Smith Oxygen Regulator - 30 Series Medium Duty Code: 30-100-540) to use the little torch instead of (Smith Oxygen Regulator - 30 Series For Little Torch/Quickbraze Code: 30-20-540)....if not ....why?
    2 Answers
The Smith Oxygen Regulator - 30 Series For Little Torch/Quickbraze 30-20-540 has a delivery pressure range of 0 to 20 psi.. The 30-100-540 has a delivery pressure range of 0-100 psi. The maximum oxygen pressure required by the Smith Little Torch tips is 8 psi. If you use the 30-20-540 regulator your outlet gauge will read in the middle of the gauge scale . If you use a 30-100-540 your outlet gauge will read at the bottom of the gauge scale. You can more accurately set your oxygen pressure with the 30-20-540. You can use the 30-100-540 however it is not Smith's choice for use with the Little Torch.

Can you please tell if there is any internal difference between this regulator and the standard Smith 30 Series regulator? Is there a different diaphragm or spring or is the only difference the 0-20 psi gauge?
    1 Answer
The Smith Oxygen Regulator - 30 Series For Little Torch/Quickbraze and the standard 30 series oxygen regulator do have an internal difference. The spring in the Quickbraze model is different and allows it to be more accurate at low pressure range (0-20 psi) than the standard 30 series regulator. It also limits the delivery pressure to 20 psi

Will this regulator fit an R tank? Will my gas lines (red and green) which come with my little torch be able to handle pressure from an R tank or B tank (oxygen specifically)? I imagine the regulator does compensate to reduce pressure from R tank to the thin lines which come with little torch, but want to ask the experts. Regards, Edward.
    1 Answer
Smith Oxygen Regulator - 30 Series For Little Torch/Quickbraze will fit an R size cylinder. The regulator has B size fittings ( 9/16" -18rh) - as long as your hose has the same fittings, it will be compatible.

Great price!......is this Smith Oxygen Regulator 30 NEW? Is it reconditioned or rebuilt? I see there is a review posted here that says that the customer bought this one from you and it drifts and doesn't hold a pressure setting correctly. I have the same problem with my OLD Smith Oxygen gauge and need to replace it but I am holding back from purchasing this one because I am not sure if you are selling a NEW or REBUILT REGULATOR. Please let me know as I am in the market for ONLY a NEW Smith Oxygen gauge for the Little Torch in the 30 Series size. Let me know and let's do a little business! Thanks, Ken W

Initial overview while new in the package revealed crazing around the edge of all the clear screw on dust covers for the pressure gauges. One has to wonder how this will hold up over time. I don't know yet whether I like them as well as the Smith gauges I bought way back in the 1970's I hope they last as long.
ProsSmooth Operation as I have come to expect from smith equipment

I purchased one of these previously and was able to modify as needed. But this time I was unable to get the brass fitting out of the body in order to attach a hose barb as needed for my application. The fitting is screwed in to tightly that any wrench we used to extract it just sheared off the brass. So for now we just left it on the shop bench with plans to try drilling out the brass fitting in the future when we have time for messing around with this some more... Anyway this is a low pressure regulator so my advice to you is that you do not have to put the fittings in so tight that they can not be removed.

I don't know if this is a rebuild, but does not flow properly. When first turned on and in use, pressure zeros out and regulation is irregular.
