Are Versa Torch and Airline the same thing? Both are AW1A but I'm wondering if one is light duty and the other is medium, or if it's just a renaming.
    1 Answer
Smith advises that the Versa Torch AW1A is a light duty Handle vs the Airline AW1A which is classified as a standard duty handle.

    Great Little Torch

I've had this torch for a couple months. I'm a weekend hobby welder. I've been using this for oxyacetylene brazing. Does a terrific job. It's comfortable in your hand. I only wish there were more tip size options like a OO.
ProsComfortable in your hand. Handy valve placement. Well made.

    Great little torch handle
    November 22, 2017
Bought this torch on the recommendation of a welding instructor at an EAA workshop. I have struggled in the past with my larger torch handles when welding light materials in sometimes tight/awkward positions. A lighter torch handle like this really eases the challenge of getting acceptable results when welding aircraft tubing, especially when teamed with a smaller caliber light weight hose set. It feels good in the hand, the fittings are well made and the valves make consistent adjustment easy.
    ProsSmall, nimble, well made

My Dad always uses Smith handles, and I have followed in his footsteps. They are the lightest, easiest to handle, most durable handles I have ever used. I've tried other brands, but keep coming back to Smith.
