Can Miller Multimatic 215 Multiprocess Welder 907693 run off of a generator?
Is this a good starting welder for a hobbyist?

You would need a 7000 Watt generator that can handle a 30 amp pull to get full use of the Miller Multimatic™ 215 Multiprocess Welder 907693. It would be a good option for beginners as it is multi process and can run off 110v or 230v.

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons/differences between the 200 and the 215 multimatic. Is the 215 an updated version of the 200 ?
1 Answer
The main differences between the Multimatic 200 and Multimatic 215 are as follows: The Multimatic 200 is designed to be "portable" with a heavy duty case and shoulder strap. This machine will also provide better TIG control and lower amperage capability for thinner TIG welding. It also comes with a Bernard Q-150 MIG gun and original Miller foot contol. The Multimatic 215 is more of your standard shop welder, not built to be safely traveled with like the Multimatic 200. Although, it is portable at only 38 lbs. You will also have better MIG control. The Multimatic 215 comes with an M-100 MIG gun and the newer Miller foot control which is a bit smaller than the original. Neither the Multimatic 200 or Multimatic 215 have the ability to TIG weld aluminum but both can MIG aluminum with the use of a Spoolgun.

1 Answer
You could potentially run the Miller Multimatic 215 Multiprocess Welder 907693 off of your generator, although you will not be able to run it at it's full capability. To run this machine at a full 200 amps, you would need a 7000 Watt generator that can handle a 30 amp pull.

Is it possible to attach a 15ft mig gun to this machine?
Also could you tell me the main differences between the 200 and the 215 multimatics I know the 215 obviously has more amps and is a bit heavier but what else is different?
Thank You
1 Answer
Yes, you can attach the M-150 in a 15 ft. length to a Miller Multimatic 215.
The main difference between the machines is going to be that the Multimatic 200 is more of a field welder. It is designed more to appeal to an industrial type use. It is going to have a very durable shell and shoulder strap so that it is portable. It will also come with a Bernard Q-150 MIG gun instead of the Miller M-100 that comes on the Multimatic 215. Typically, if you are looking for more of a TIG controlled welder, we would suggest the 200 and if you are looking for more MIG control, we would suggest the 215.
We would be happy to answer any other questions that you have!
Have a great day.

You cannot tig weld aluminum with a Miller Multimatic 215 Multiprocess Welder 907693 . The Miller Multimatic 215 Multiprocess Welder produces DC weld current. To tig weld aluminum you will need a machine that can produce AC weld current.. If you are going to mig weld steel you will need a 75% argon 25% CO2 gas mix. To tig weld steel you will need a 100% argon gas. If you are going to mig weld aluminum you will use 100% argon ..

Can the two gas connection be used to switch between MIG and spool gun or just between MIG and TIG? In other words, do you manually change cylinders when changing from MIG to spool gun gasses?
1 Answer
The Miller Multimatic 215 Multiprocess Welder 907693 has 2 gas ports on the on the rear panel. One port is identified you mig and spoolgun welding and the other is identified for tig welding. The mig/ spoolgun port feeds the wire drive block where the mig gun or spoolgun is connected. The tig port feeds the flow through dinse receptacle on the front of the machine where the tig torch is connected. You cannot connect the mig gun or spoolgun to the receptacle on the front of the machine and visa-versa for the tig torch. When changing over from standard mig for steel welding to the spoolgun for aluminum you will have to manually change the cylinder hose connections
